Bio and Experience
Square Deal Consulting (SDC) was founded by David Lambertson, Ph.D. in June 2025. Dr. Lambertson received his Ph.D. from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (now part of Rutgers Medical School) in 2002. After defending his thesis, Dr. Lambertson began his career in intellectual property by joining the United States Patent and Trademark Office as an Examiner in the Biotechnology Tech Center in May of 2002.
In November 2005, Dr. Lambertson joined the NIH Office of Technology Transfer, handling patent management, marketing, and licensing of anti-cancer therapeutics. Throughout his twenty-year career in technology transfer (which includes moving to the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in 2015), Dr. Lambertson directly negotiated or advised/supervised the execution of over 400 license agreements and collaborative agreements. At the time of his retirement from Federal service, these agreements generated nearly $50 million in collected revenue and resulted in at least three FDA-approved therapeutics. Dr. Lambertson retired from Federal Service in April 2025, and is now looking to assist those looking to benefit from his experience.
In his spare time, Dr. Lambertson is an experienced practitioner in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), as well as an amateur singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Dr. Lambertson has been practicing BJJ since 2015 and teaching BJJ since 2018. He attained his black belt in September 2023 from Gael Force BJJ in Flanders, NJ. Dr. Lambertson has also written and published several songs as the sole remaining member of Albino Tree Yeti.
